Time is really flying and our sweet little Ripley is growing up! It's been so wonderful to see her growing and acting as any normal pullet her age should. Integration in to the flock was a stressful time.....for me! Ripley had no trouble and nobody even gave a sideways glace to her extra parts. She's now about 4 1/2 months old and starting to show her maturity. Her face is turning pink and her voice has changed from that squeaky teenage squawk to a grown up bawk. I haven't seen any boys showing interest in her yet, though, they may have tried making a move and regretted it immediately! That would be an interesting sight to see! |
Now, it's officially egg watch time! Every day, we're checking the nest boxes for a brown egg, or two! Ripley has two vents and since nobody knows if Ripley has any extra internal parts, there's no way to know whether she will give us one or two eggs a day. Only time will tell! She's been a little miracle girl so far and has done very well. I'm hopeful that she will have no issues laying when the time comes.
